The body of a dayold baby, found by passers-by in Atikankan area of Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Saturday morning, caused a stir and attracted a crowd of sympathisers at the scene.
The body of the male child was found at a point in the drainage channel around the Ijigbo/Atikankan junction area in Ado-Ekiti.
Residents and commercial vehicles plying the route gathered at the scene to take a look and the development caused traffic gridlock at the busy Ijigbo/Irona market road as the crowd grew with vehicles and motorbikes parked by the road.
Some of the onlookers and traders were emotional and rained curses on the mother of the baby, for dumping the child in the drainage after birth.
The baby, at the time it was discovered, still had placenta on it but its head was swollen.
Some people in the crowd resorted to taking photos of the baby but as at the time of filing this report, nobody in the crowd had notified the relevant government agency to remove the foetus.
