Substitute Eder stunned the home faithfuls 19 minutes into extra time as he helped his team recover from losing star player Cristiano Ronaldo, who was stretchered off after just 25 minutes. The encounter went into extra time after both sides played goalless during regulation time.
The EURO 2016 triumph for Portugal represents the country’s first ever win at a major tournament. They had previously been in the final of a major tournament once losing 1-0 to Greece as hosts.
