A 36 year old police man, Sergeant Samaila Habila has been arrested and dismissed by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly killing a 32 year old man identified as Ejovwokoghene Igueride from the community of Emede in Isoko LGA of Delta State.
In a statement signed by DSP Andrew Aniamaka which was made available to newsmen, the Delta State Police Command said that the Police plans to arraign the dismissed police officer will be in court soon.
It also added that the dismissal of the officer was in line with its avowed commitment to serve with integrity and be guided by the best democratic principles and practice at all times, no matter whose ox is gored.
He further claimed that the suspect allegedly shot the deceased at Emede community, where he was rushed to the General Hospital in Olomoro and was confirmed dead on the 19 of August 19.
The Delta State Police Command also expressed its heart-felt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, stressing that,” it shares in their pains over the unfortunate loss of their loved one due to the careless handling of weapon by the dismissed sergeant.”
