A Chief Magistrate court in Port Harcourt has ordered that Investigative Police Officer, IPO, Sergeant Johnbosco Okoroinze who allegedly helped a 23 year old ritualist Ifeanyi Dike to escape be put in the Port Harcourt Prison.
The Sergeant Johnbosco was charged with two count offence of helping and perverting the will of Justice.
According to reports The Chief Magistrate, Andrew Jaja made a statement which reads that the crime committed by the Sergeant, Johnbosco was punishable by life sentence.
The counsel of the sergeant, Womor Sunday told newsmen that the magistrate court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter because of the magnitude of the crime.
However, human rights Lawyer, Eugene Odey has called on members of the public to stop criticizing the police but cooperate with the Force to find the main suspect, Ifeanyi Dike.
He said the Commissioner of Police has shown sincerity in finding the fleeing suspect.
He also said the Sergeant has been dismissed from the Police Force for his laxity.
