The Nigerian Air Pressure yesterday sent five fighter jets towards the well known Sambisa Forest to crush Boko Haram terrorists operating in the region.
The procedure is developing the heels of new reports that the terrorists were regrouping within the forest.
The insurgents have lately attacked Maiduguri, Adamawa and Yobe States.
Speaking around the operational outings through the Nigeria Air Pressure, NAF Director of Pr and knowledge, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya stated the Nigerian Air Pressure had intensified its intensive night and day aerial bombardments of Boko Haram terrorists’ locations inside the North-east.
He stated around the 4th day of the continuing Operation ‘Ruwan Wuta II’, the NAF conducted air interdiction on some structures in Dure, a BHT-infested location, 12km east of Sambisa.
Adesanya described that “reports from NAF Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance platforms had revealed the gradual resurgence of BHT activities within the settlement, particularly in the targeted structures, that have been hideouts for that terrorists.”
Based on him “five aircrafts namely thrice Alpha Jet aircraft and a pair of x F-7Ni aircraft conducted the environment interdiction missions.
“The Alpha jet aircraft and also the F-Ni aircraft required turns to fight the place with bombs, destroying the targeted structures and killing the terrorists.”
He observed that “the Fight Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted following the strikes revealed that some of the structures were set ablaze through the explosive device explosions.”
