Seven municipality pensioners have apparently died in Ekiti State within the last two days over difficulty allegedly unleashed in it consequently of non-payment of their monthly pensions and gratuities.

The council pensioners chose to make this known on Monday at their monthly meeting locked in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Acting underneath the aegis of Concerned Municipality Pensioners’ Forum, the pensioners expressed shocks within the spate of deaths of retirees who lack money to consider care of themselves.

A communiqué issued in the finish of the meeting and signed through the Forum’s Coordinator, Alhaji Quadri Oguntuase and Secretary, Mr. Biodun Agboola, advised the state government to accord the pensioners’ welfare utmost priority.

The seven who died within the last two days, based on the communiqué, were Mr. J.O. Ojo, Mr. Adedayo Ojo, Mrs. Modupe Aribisala, Mr. Abegunde, Mr. Ogunleye, Mrs. Adelugba and Alhaji Abdullahi.

The retirees observed a minute’s silence in honor of the deceased, who have been part of last month’s meeting.

Talking to reporters in the finish of the meeting, the LG Pensioners’ Forum boss, Oguntuase, decried the problem of the retirees whom he stated offered diligently within the prime simply to be dumped to poverty and difficulty in their latter years.

Oguntuase lamented that, “The situation is becoming intolerable for we and us don’t have any option that to weep aloud for that world to understand that we, pensioners suffer in Ekiti.

“The rate where we’re dying is alarming and picture the harvest of deaths within the last two days. Seven of our people died inside the period and also the situation was brought on by non-payment of our benefits.

“Because our monthly pensions aren’t compensated, many of us lack money to consume and also to be mindful of our families. The denial of our legal rights makes many of us to get irresponsible fathers and husbands in your own home.

“In fact, many of individuals who died didn’t have money to purchase drugs to handle their ailments in order to take themselves to hospitals. Situations are badly as that so we want the state government to look for methods to pay for us our pensions and gratuities,” he stated.

“We believe that it is no offence to diligently serve our fatherland government shouldn’t watch basically we suffer because our entitlements are our legal rights that we shouldn’t be denied of.”
